1.3 The Installation Workflow

The openSUSE installation is split into three main parts: preparation, installation, configuration. During the preparation phase you configure some basic parameters such as language, time, and desktop type. In the installation phase you decide which software to install, where to install it and how to boot the installed system. Upon finishing the installation the machine reboots into the newly installed system and starts the configuration. In this stage you set up users and passwords, and configure network and Internet access as well as hardware components such as printers.
