Before opportunistic locking was available on Samba, the Samba daemons pretended to allow oplocks via the
fake
oplocks option. If this option was enabled, all clients were told that the file is available for opportunistic locking, and never warned of simultaneous access. This option is deprecated now that real oplocks are available on Samba.
