For running MS/Windows applications under GNU/Linux Wine
(Section 62.1) provide a open source option that works for
many applications, but not all. Wine provides an implementation of
many of the MS/Windows libraries so that MS/Windows applications can run
diretly under GNU/Linux. VMware (Section 62.2) provides a
virtual machine on your GNU/Linux desktop in which you can install
MS/Windows. Citrix (Section 62.3) uses the Windows
Terminal Server to access a Windows machine and display the desktop
within a window on the GNU/Linux desktop. For applications that can
work with MS/Windows documents see OpenOffice 69 and
AbiWord 8.
