Audio File Formats

Question: Which formats of sound files can I play on my Web page?

Answer: All audio-enabled browsers support the playback of audio files in WAV and MIDI formats (.mid, .midi, and .wav files) . Other file formats may or may not be supported, depending on the user's browser and system configuration. For example, RealAudio sound files will be played back only if the user installed the RealPlayer application.
