6.5.1 Entering Wireless Encyption Keys

Having selected the "Wireless Settings" page on in the graphical network configuration tool you will see the wireless settings screen as shown in Figure 6.5.1.

To set up the encryption simply enter the the 26 digit key you have set up on your wireless base station in the "Key" field. Remember from Chapter 3 that encyption keys are entered in hexadecimal so the key should be prefixed with 0x (which denote hexadecimal).

Click on OK and return to the main screen. Save the changes and quit from the configuration tool. The tool will ask you if you wish to restart the network to make the new changes take effect. Tell the tool to restart the network after which you should be able to connect to your encrypted wireless network from your Linux system.
